St. George was deeply saddened to learn that His Beatitude, Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania fell asleep in the Lord on Sat, Jan 25th at the age of 95.  St. George served a Memorial for him after Divine Liturgy on Sun, Jan 26th.Memory Eternal! I perjetshem kujtimi! 

Bishop Nikodhim, Bishop of Boston and the Albanian Archdiocese, attended the funeral for Archbishop Anastasios. The funeral was Thursday, January 30th. Below please find a few photos.

The following paragraph is an excerpt from a “Biographical Sketch of Archbishop Anastasios” on the “Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania” website:
 …… As Archbishop of Albania (1992 to the present), under tremendously difficult circumstances, he has restored and further developed the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, which had been fully dissolved for 23 years. Together with the work of revitalizing the Orthodox Church, innovative programs were also developed in the areas of health, social welfare, education, agricultural developments, culture and ecology. At the same time, he struggled to assist in relieving the many tensions in the Balkans……
