On Sunday, August 20th, St. George celebrated the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos. The celebration of this feast was transferred from Tuesday, August 15th, the normal date it is celebrated. This feast commemorates the repose (dormition) or "falling-asleep" of the Mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and also commemorates the assumption into heaven of the body of the Theotokos. After Divine Liturgy, there was the blessing of fragrant herbs and flowers, which is customary on this feast. St. George wishes to thank Fr. Dennis Rhodes who served Divine Liturgy for us on this day.
